Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach , Mauricio Pochettino, commented on his team’s 1-1 draw with Club Brugge in the opening match of the Champions League group stage , Thursday, September 16, early morning WIB. According to him, no one is happy with the result.
PSG stars such as Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have been immediately deployed as starters to face Brugge at the Jan Breydelstadion Stadium, Belgium. Les Parisiens also took the lead through Ander Herrera who received Mbappe’s pass in the 15th minute.
But Brugge didn’t stand still. Despite losing control of the ball, they still created more chances until they finally scored the equalizer through Hans Vanaken in the 27th minute.
Various ways have been done by PSG to restore the advantage. Including replacing Mbappe with Mauro Icardi in the 51st minute and Messi who had to receive a yellow card in the 72nd minute. However, additional goals were not created until the game ended.
“No one in this team is happy with their performance and no one is happy with this result,” Pochettino said after the game as quoted by the BBC.
“We are here to take all the points. So hats off to Club Brugge. They wanted more from us tonight, and they deserved the points.”
The draw made PSG and Brugge fill second and third positions in Group A standings with a collection of 1 point. They are behind Manchester City who earned three points after slaughtering RB Leipzig with a score of 6-3.
