Manchester United’s support for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not faded. They are even rumored to be ready to spend quite a bit so that the coach can bring in a new figure in January 2022.
Solskjaer’s position is increasingly cornered after Manchester United swallowed a bad result in the Premier League match on Saturday (16/10/2021). Against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, they lost with a score of 2-4.
Thus, Manchester United have lost four of their last seven matches in all competitions. The problem is, the defeat came from a club that on paper was able to be defeated by the Red Devils.
Obviously this is worrying. In a situation like this, it is very possible for Manchester United to get bad results again in the next matches. Moreover, they will meet many ‘big six’ clubs until early December.
Ready to pour money, as long as…
It’s no surprise that Manchester United fans are asking the club’s management to sack Solskjaer in the near future. But unfortunately, this request is unlikely to materialize.
The Athletic reports that Manchester United’s management still believes in Solskjaer. The report was further corroborated by the Daily Star recently.
The Daily Star claims that Manchester United have £70 million to spend in January. Provided that Solskjaer is able to maintain the club’s status as a title-winning candidate before the turn of the year.
Who Will Be Recruited?
Funds of that size are likely to be used by Manchester United to recruit new defensive midfielders. They were linked with several names in the summer, but none of them materialized.
Saul Niguez has officially moved to Chelsea, while Leon Goretzka has extended his contract with Bayern Munich. This makes the list of targets for the Red Devils dwindling.
West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is reportedly Manchester United’s top priority in January. In addition, they also included the name of Leeds United’s mainstay player, Kalvin Phillips.
