Steven Gerrard continues to be linked with Aston Villa. He has the potential to be Dean Smith’s successor.
Such a situation, could be a stepping stone for the 41-year-old figure. However, Gerrard’s dream is to return to Liverpool one day. He is a living legend for the Reds.
“Gerrard has been with Rangers for three years. Speculation regarding his potential arrival to Anfield is nothing new,” the report quoted mirror.co.uk as saying , Thursday (11/11).
The figure who retired at La Galaxy is still gushing Glasgow Rangers. Then at Liverpool there is Jurgen Klopp. Klopp’s contract with the Red Merseyside squad is until June 2024.
The possibility of Gerrard becoming Dean Smith’s successor, becomes an interesting side for Reds fans. The former England national team midfielder is one step away from being based at Villa Park.
“According to the Daily Record and Birmingham City , as of Wednesday (10/11), a deal is very close,” added the report from the Mirror.
Apparently Klopp does not feel threatened by Gerrard’s return to England. Instead, he supports the legend back home. Of course after he is no longer on duty at Anfield.
“If you ask me who should be my successor, I will answer Stevie. I help him whenever I can,” said the German tactician.
Gerrad has prepared himself to be one of the best coaches. Rangers is his first training ground. He guided his team to fight in the Scottish League.
If it’s official to Villa, he certainly works professionally. But the farthest dream was predictable. Anfield is his home.
“Would I love to be Liverpool coach one day? Was it a dream? Of course,” he said in December 2020.
